It's that time of year again! Every year, the Department of History partners with the Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) to raise money for disadvantaged families during the Thanksgiving holiday season. In 2009, our department raised $150 for the Turkey Drive--enough to feed 6 families. Last year, our department pulled together in an extraordinary act of community and kindness and raised more than double that amount! This year, we plan on doing it again, and we hope you'll help.
Just stop by the History Department main office in 603 College Hall to make your donation. ANY AMOUNT helps--even $1. You can make your donation in cash, a check made payable to Office of Multicultural Affairs, or a Giant Eagle gift card. The deadline to donate is Friday, November 18. We will then take our group collection to the OMA.
Rahmon Hart, Director of Multicultural Affairs here at Duquesne, tells us how your generosity will make a significant impact on our neighbors:
Together, we can make a difference. Thank you for your generosity!
Greetings Friends/Colleagues,I hope all is well. Despite all the economic turmoil that people are experiencing in this country, many of us are truly blessed to be gainfully employed as we enter this holiday season. In appreciation of our continued blessings, the Office of Multicultural Affairs at Duquesne University is coordinating the 6th Annual OMA Turkey Drive to help those who are less fortunate in local communities to enjoy a dinner with their family and loved ones on Thanksgiving Day. Last year this initiative raised enough funds to provide turkeys to over 200 families in the Hill District, Manchester, Hazelwood, and East Liberty communities.Please...consider helping us to reach our goal of providing 300 turkeys to disadvantaged families in the Pittsburgh area. It is just $25 to sponsor a family for Thanksgiving but donations of any size would be greatly appreciated ($5, $25, $50, $100, etc.)...You can donate with cash, checks payable to the Office of Multicultural Affairs, budget transfer from your department, or with Giant Eagle gift cards. The deadline to contribute is Friday, November 18th.If you would like to organize your own drive and collect funds in support of the OMA Turkey Drive, please let me know and I will contact you with additional information. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me. Many hands make light work!Sincerely,Rahmon
